BOSNIAN BEAUTY

"From May to September, Bosnia ranks among the best fly fishing destinations in Eastern Europe. Snowy mountainous slopes morps into meadows speckled with wildflowers. The quietness of the surroundings when travelling in the car gives way to the rush of water from dozens of cascades when we alight at our fishing spots. One can spend days and even weeks in this part of the world that's probably the world's best kept secret for adventure tourism. Given it's tragic and violent history and having gone through 3 50-year wars (WW I, II and the Yogoslav ethnic conflicts in 1990s), most of us only know Bosnia as a warring country and not a safe place to visit. Far from it, the country is beautiful, it's people friendly and their hospitality is unparalleled. Never have I been to another country where they go out of their way to make you feel at home. Amir, his wife Elvira, son Amor and daughter Alma were such gracious hosts that it made our stay memorable. Even their family friends welcome us in the same manner. Talk about Malaysian hospitality, we certainly can take a leaf out of their books on how to host. And did I mention that the food was amazing too...and the fishing...what more can we say. Bosnia, we'll definitely be back."
